Congratulations to the 2019 Grant Recipients!

The Vancouver Police Foundation wrapped up the 2019 Grant Ceremony at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia on June 4th. In addition to the 2019 grant recipients, colleagues and past recipients were also in attendance to celebrate their peers and show their support for the Foundation.

The Foundation awarded over $788,000 in grants across the four pillars of Youth Programs; Mental Health & Addictions; Community Outreach & Engagement and Specialized Equipment & Technology.

In addition to recognizing the grant recipients and their amazing, innovative programs, the Foundation also honoured two individuals for their contributions over the years. The first award was the inaugural Vancouver Police Foundation Exemplary Service Award to recognize contributions to the Foundation’s growth and community engagement. We were delighted to honour Sgt. Kevin Torvik for all of his support of the Foundation over the years.

This year’s Canaccord Genuity Community Champion Award was presented to Constable Alex Charles. He was selected for his community work in developing Gang Tackle and Turning Point, which are anti-gang programs for at-risk youth. Both programs have made a strong impact in the community and due to their success, the Vancouver Police Foundation awarded a total of $30,000 to both programs over the next three years.

Congratulations everyone!
