Message from the Chief Constable, VPD

We live in a beautiful world-class city that people are proud to call home. The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has made significant progress towards our vision of making Vancouver the safest major city in Canada, but unfortunately, crime continues to affect Vancouver’s citizens, businesses, and visitors.

We are working towards that vision every day by employing the most qualified people, giving them the best training, and implementing the most innovative tactics and strategies in policing. Our members have high standards and perform their duties with integrity, professionalism, accountability, respect, and compassion. They develop innovative ideas and continually look for new ways to prevent crime and keep people safe by engaging with the community.

We know that we are not alone in these efforts. The Vancouver Police Foundation, representing our city, has brought together concerned citizens who believe strongly that the responsibility for making our community safer is a shared one among the police and the people who live in it.

I would like to express my gratitude to the many Foundation supporters who over the past 47 years have contributed to the success of our many community outreach and crime prevention programs that otherwise would be outside the reach of our budget. The Foundation, along with the hundreds of volunteers who assist us in making our neighbourhoods safer, continues to make us a leader in policing.

Adam Palmer, Chief Constable
