Charity Classic Golf Tournament – Shamble format

Shamble Format Rules

We are pleased to present the inaugural Vancouver Police Foundation 45th Anniversary Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Friday September 17, 2021 at UBC Golf Club and are so excited you are going to join us.The tournament will follow the “Shamble” format of play and scoring. What does that mean? We are so glad you asked! Here are the rules of the tournament’s  Shamble:

  • Each player hits a drive at every tee box.
  • Teams will select the preferred drive. Each player will drop their ball no further than six inches from where the ball came to rest and play their own ball for the duration of the hole.
  • This is done on all holes except for par 3’s where all players play their own balls, tee to green.
  • Each group must use a minimum of three drives per person over the course of the round.
  • Please record the gross score for each person in the group.
  • The team score will be a two net best ball which will be calculated by the scoring committee.

We’ll send a reminder email the day before the event, but please don’t hesitate to contact us at 604-717-3700 or awright@vancouverpolicefoundation.org with any questions.
