Youth Programs

There is no doubt that keeping children and youth occupied in a positive environment greatly increases the likelihood of a prosperous and meaningful life, despite what might be happening at home.

The Vancouver Police Foundation is proud to be funding programs and initiatives that keep kids engaged, active, and away from high-risk activities.

In 2022 we proudly granted $635,943 to impactful programs that will support and care for thousands of Vancouver’s children and youth. Most notably, our signature beneficiary of youth funding is the VPD Cadet program. Now in its 9th year, the Cadet program has changed the lives of more than 340 Vancouver teens.

VPD Cadet Program

This intensive 28-week program for at-risk youth is building the leaders of tomorrow through engaging lessons, guest presentations and hands-on experiences. Participants are taught resilience, leadership, and confidence-building skills as well as important tangible and vocational skills.

This impactful 10-week program helps young newcomers and refugees adapt to a new life in Canada by building confidence and positive connections with both their peers and law enforcement officers. NewKids also supports these young newcomers avoid becoming victims of crime and/or getting involved in high-risk behaviours.

Project Snare

Project Snare is an important initiative that is going above and beyond to save youth from negative online manipulation and offline abuse. This initiative targets online sex trade “johns” seeking sexual encounters with youth.
