Candace Parks (Night Patrol Gala)Spring 2015 | Candance Parks

Candace Parks enjoys giving back to the community and having the opportunity to engage with the public. In addition to her work at the Vancouver Police Foundation (VPF), Candace volunteers with Citizens Crime Watch and Hastings Sunrise Community Policing Centre.

When she isn’t driving around town as a bus operator for Coast Mountain Bus Company or volunteering with the VPF, she enjoys travelling, painting, playing guitar, trying to get on the Judo mats with the Police Judo Club and spending time with friends.

 VPF>> Why did you volunteer with Vancouver Police Foundation?

I heard about the VPF after I started volunteering with Hastings Sunrise Community Policing Center. I wanted to spend some more time working with the Vancouver Police Department, while giving back to the community.

VPF>> How have you volunteered with us in the past?

My first opportunity to volunteer with the VPF was during the Chevron Summer Cinema Series in Stanley Park held in July and August 2013. We had an information booth set up and I was able to interact with the public and share information about the work you do in the community. Since then, I volunteered at other events such as the Night Patrol Gala, Vancouver Canadians Baseball game and the Larry Young Memorial Run. I have also assisted with several office admin tasks, which has even included an exciting afternoon labeling envelopes. Anytime there is an opportunity to volunteer with the VPF, I try my best to make my schedule work.

VPF>> What has been your favorite part of volunteering with the Vancouver Police Foundation?

I love working with the public and giving back to the community. The VPF gives me the opportunity to do both. I have made great connections with everybody at the Foundation and always like helping out when I can.
