While every effort is made to ensure that all information provided on this site does not contain computer viruses, you should take reasonable and appropriate precautions to scan for computer viruses and should ensure that you have a complete and current backup of the information contained on your computer system. You should pay specific attention to some of the newer viruses that have been written to automatically execute when an infected word processing document is loaded into certain word processing programs.

Security

The VPF makes every attempt to maintain appropriate security measures within the physical facilities we operate from to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information collected.

The Internet however is not a secure medium and privacy cannot be ensured. Internet email in particular is vulnerable to interception and forgery. The VPF will not be responsible for any damages you or any third party may suffer as a result of the transmission of confidential information that you make to the VPF through the Internet, or that you expressly or implicitly authorize the VPF to make, or for any errors or any changes made to any transmitted information.

Protecting Your Privacy

The VPF recognizes your right to privacy and pledges to protect it. The VPF is aware of our responsibilities under the BC provincial government’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Our web servers are located in Canada. Third-party services in use on VPF sites (web analytics tracking, social media accounts, photo galleries, blogging services, etc.) may be located in the United States.

Information Collected

When visiting our website, our web server automatically logs (records) your Internet Protocol (IP) address, domain name and standard information about the operating system and web browser you are using, as provided by your web browser. This information is used for statistical purposes to help us manage our site, but it does not identify you in any way.

The VPF may use third parties to collect data from our website anonymously for marketing and fundraising purposes, e.g. advertisements. Users of our website will not be personally identified through this data and the VPF does not see any data or contact information on an individual level. These third parties primarily include, but are not be limited to, META (Facebook, Instagram) and/or Twitter. Supporters may tailor their privacy settings to limit the collection of personal information.

Vancouverpolicefoundation.org and vancouverpolicefoundationstore.com:  Our websites may collect certain types of information electronically, such as items browsed, when you interact with our Sites, emails, social media accounts, online advertising, or through technologies such as cookies, web beacons, single pixel gifs and analytics engines. Cookies by themselves do not inform us of a Supporter’s email address or otherwise identify them personally. Supporters’ web browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies.

We collect personal information (email address, postal address, telephone number, fax number, or payment / credit card information) only if you volunteer it via an online form or email. We may use this information to contact you for support purposes or to send you periodic mailings with information about new products or services.

All information is kept confidential. The VPF does not share site visitors’ personal information with other companies.

How We Use This Information

We occasionally send mailings (email or postal) on new products or services to clients and site visitors who have provided us with their email or postal address.

From time to time, we may use information collected for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy policy. If our information practices change we will post any such changes to our website to notify you of these changes, and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses.
