Now in its 11th year, the VPD Cadet program provides Vancouver high school students with an intensive and inspiring leadership program that is truly life changing. Most participants are vulnerable youth with high-risk backgrounds, volatile family situations, and/or are refugees. From September to May every year, the VPD Cadet Program offers a unique opportunity for youth to participate in applied educational workshops, physical training, recreational activities, community service, drill, and provides an inside look into several different police units.
One of the many applied key learnings in each Cadet year is financial literacy – teaching the teens the basics of budgeting, economics, financial planning and more. And for the past three years, North-Vancouver based Enriched Academy has generously provided their expertise in finance to the VPD Cadet program at no cost.
More than 200 Cadets have participated in the Enriched Academy keynote learning sessions, both in-person and online. Of those Cadets, 130 went on to access additional resources also made available at no charge by Enriched Academy, including the full online course package.
“This has truly been the most helpful course I have ever taken. All throughout high school I have tried to find information like this or find workshops that offered this information, but none of them were as accessible as this course was. The information I have received in this course will undoubtedly change my future,” says VPD Cadet Mayuran T.
Outside of their work with the Cadet program, Enriched Academy works with school boards, colleges and universities, governments, and private companies across Canada to deliver practical and real-world financial education to people of all ages. For teens like the VPD Cadets, they teach critical financial life skills through engaging video-based lessons with online financial tools. All the content provided to teens is in conjunction with mandated provincial high school curricula, making it easy and accessible for teachers to deliver the key learnings to students.
“We are outspoken advocates on the importance of financial wellness and the critical role financial literacy plays throughout our lifetime,” explains Jay Seabrook from Enriched Academy.
“Our mission is to make financial freedom accessible to everyone by empowering Canadians to effectively manage their own financial health.”
More than 350,000 individuals across Canada have used programs provided by Enriched Academy. The self-guided, online programs feature practical, expert advice delivered in straightforward language specifically designed to help Canadians take control of their finances and build a solid financial future. In addition to these online resources, Enriched Academy also has a team of dedicated, professionally accredited financial coaches to take individuals through a customized, one-on-one financial coaching program.
