Three years after Vancouver police, city, and business leaders visited San Francisco’s historic Chinatown, Constable Freddy Lau is putting lessons learned into action at home. Building on the proven success of murals, his idea, Muralize, brings vibrant artwork to storefronts in Vancouver’s Chinatown to reduce graffiti, support merchants, and help restore pride in the neighbourhood.
With the help of local artists and support from VPF donors, this idea is becoming reality. Watch the full story in this short video.
Muralize is also garnering media attention, check out Global News’ story by clicking here.
The Vancouver Police Foundation supports programs and initiatives that fall within three streams: community outreach and engagement (including programs for women, youth and seniors); public and personal safety; and specialized equipment and technology.
