After nearly six years of service, PSD Vook has officially retired from duty.
Vook and his handler, Cst. Chris Hudson, graduated training together in September 2019 and served side by side until Vook’s medical retirement in May 2025 – continuing a family policing legacy started by Ret. Cst. Hudson Sr.
One of their very first shifts together saw them dispatched to a high-risk call involving an armed suspect near Cambie and East 59th Avenue. The suspect rammed multiple police vehicles – including the canine truck – before fleeing. Vook quickly picked up the track and located the suspect hiding nearby, leading to a safe arrest. It was just the beginning of an impressive career.
From that day forward, Vook remained a reliable partner, right up to his final arrest of a fleeing suspect who struck him with a razor scooter.
Now, Vook is enjoying retirement at home with the family he protected on and off the job. Thank you for your service, PSD Vook. You’ve more than earned your rest.
As Vook hangs up his harness, we’re excited to share that Cst. Hudson is now working with a new partner: PSD Bowser. We look forward to introducing you to Bowser soon!
