SAFE CITIES START WITH STRONG COMMUNITIES

For 50 years the Vancouver Police Foundation has funded community engagement and public safety initiatives that fall outside the regular operating budget of the Vancouver Police Department.

Since 1976 the Foundation has invested more than $14.5 million into programs that support youth, strengthen neighbourhoods, and enhance public safety across Vancouver.

Donor support helps fund programming across these priorities:

  1. Community engagement grants created by frontline VPD officers
  2. The VPD Cadet Program for youth in Grades 10–12
  3. The VPD Canine Unit
  4. The VPD Mounted Unit
  5. Special projects, programs, and equipment

Without donor support many of these programs simply would not exist. Programs like:

  • NewKids: helping young newcomers settle into life in Canada
  • Seniors Scam Prevention: educating seniors on how to avoid fraud
  • ENCORE: community connection through school-based recreation programming
  • Women’s Personal Safety Team: personal safety workshops for women
  • Back on Track: support for vulnerable populations

This year alone the Foundation has set a goal of raising more than $4 million for these important priorities, made possible by donor generosity.
