On February 14th, the Vancouver Police Foundation and the VPD showed their support for the 28th Annual Women’s Memorial March that started at Carnegie Community Centre Theatre and ended at Oppenheimer Park. The march is a yearly gathering which draws thousands of participants to take part and honour the lives of missing and murdered women and all women’s lives lost in the Downtown Eastside.
The yearly event is organized by women of the Downtown Eastside community – primarily of Indigenous descent – and gives an opportunity for the community to join together to grieve loss, remember the women who have been missing, and find justice for all the lives that are lost.
We’d like to thank the VPD Diversity & Indigenous Relations Section for organizing VPD personnel and inviting the Vancouver Police Foundation to participate in the march.

The Vancouver Police Foundation supports programs and initiatives that fall within three streams: community outreach and engagement (including programs for women, youth and seniors); public and personal safety; and specialized equipment and technology.
