The Vancouver Police Foundation was proud to be at the 11th Annual Kits Fest Sports Festival on August 9-11!
The beach was packed with enthusiastic sports goers competing in numerous sports tournaments over the weekend, and supporters cheering them on! Activities at KitsFest included basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, touch football, yoga, and the ever-popular bathtub races. Despite the wet weather (goodbye summer!), happy event goers stopped by our booth for some fun.
Congratulations to our lucky winner Michi M. from Vancouver for winning the grand prize, a VPD Mounted Unit tour.
Two of our grants were also on showcase this past weekend: Love Who You Want and E-Bikes! Members of the Indigenous Cadet Program helped showcase the Love Who You Want Program on Friday. On Saturday, Bike Unit members Cst.Dueck and Cst.Warburton showed off the two new E-Bikes. This is a new initiative funded by the Vancouver Police Foundation. The E-Bikes provide another means to ensure safety in our city, enable rapid deployment, and are ideal for Vancouver’s mixed terrain.
The Vancouver Police Foundation helps advance initiatives in five key areas that strengthen community connections, support youth, and help keep Vancouver safe: Community Engagement Grants, VPD Cadets, the VPD K9 Unit & Police Service Dogs, the VPD Mounted Unit, and Special Projects, Programs & Equipment. Help bring innovative ideas to life and strengthen public safety across Vancouver by making a gift today.
