This year’s VPD Canine and Mounted Unit calendars have once again proven that the Vancouver Police Department’s four-legged members can make a big impact, both in the community and beyond.
The annual calendars are the result of a partnership between the Vancouver Police Department, the Vancouver Police Foundation, the VPD Canine Unit, and the VPD Mounted Unit. Each calendar is also supported by a talented team of local creatives. Photography is captured by Davin Manky, with layout and design by Yumi Simonson, bringing the spirit and strength of these remarkable animals and their handlers to life.
We’re thrilled to announce that the 2025 VPD Canine Calendar raised an incredible $27,233, with 100% of proceeds split equally between two vital organizations: the BC Cancer Foundation and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. These funds will help support groundbreaking cancer research and life-saving treatment for children across British Columbia.
In addition to Canine Calendar sales, the 2025 VPD Mounted Unit Calendar raised $4,000 with all proceeds proudly supporting the Vancouver Police Foundation. The Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of officer-led initiatives that build safer and stronger communities, and these funds will go toward new and existing programs that create meaningful impact throughout Vancouver.
Both calendars went on sale in October 2024 and remained available until early March 2025. Now in their 13-month glory on walls across the province, they continue to spread smiles—and stories—of bravery, community, and compassion.
2025 VPD Canine Calendar: Now in its 15th year, the Canine Calendar continues to raise critical funds while highlighting the dedication of the VPD’s 16 working dogs and their handlers. Since its inception in 2010, the calendar has raised over $600,000 for BC’s leading children’s and cancer hospitals. Created in memory of Candy Anfield, who lost her life to cancer, this project remains a heartfelt side-project led by dedicated VPD Canine Unit members.
The 2025 calendar featured the courageous story of Teagan, a 13-year-old diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, and their inspiring journey through treatment at BC Children’s Hospital. Also highlighted is VPD Sergeant Dayne Campbell, who undertook a cross-country cycling challenge after his daughter Rebecca, 16, was diagnosed with a rare cancer. His solo ride raised over $60,000, and his family’s story powerfully reminds us why continued funding is so essential.
2025 VPD Mounted Unit Calendar: Back for its second year, the Mounted Unit Calendar celebrated the daily service of the VPD’s nine horses and their riders—plus fan-favourite barn cat, PC Cheddar. The Mounted Unit, established in 1908, is one of Vancouver’s most recognized and respected policing units, known for their role in community engagement, crowd control, and ceremonial appearances.
Proceeds from this calendar support the Vancouver Police Foundation, which has provided more than $21 million to over 330 officer-led programs since 1976. Whether it’s mentorship programs for youth, community safety initiatives, or public outreach, these funds ensure VPD members can lead projects that go beyond traditional policing to make a lasting difference.
