Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the VPD Canine Calendar continues to fund life-changing care for families across British Columbia.
A police dog calendar may brighten your kitchen wall for a year, but thanks to you, its impact lasts far longer.
Recently, VPD Canine Unit Constables Hallaway and McLeod, alongside Shelley Sainsbury and Alice Frances of the Vancouver Police Foundation, had the privilege of presenting a $12,591 gift shared by the BC Cancer Foundation and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, representing proceeds raised through sales of the 2026 VPD Canine Calendar.
Every calendar purchased represented something more than a love of police dogs. It was an investment in local families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
Together, your support is helping children receive life-changing care at BC Children’s Hospital and advancing groundbreaking cancer research and treatment through BC Cancer.
Since the calendar began in 2010, this beloved community tradition has raised more than $600,000 for these two incredible charities.
Originally created in memory of Candy Anfield, who lost her battle with cancer in 2010, the calendar continues to honour her legacy by bringing together the Vancouver Police Department, local businesses, volunteers, photographers, community policing stations, and thousands of supporters who purchase a calendar each year.
Each edition also shares the story of a child whose life has been changed through care. This year’s calendar introduced readers to Lola, whose severe epilepsy was overcome through life-changing surgery. Today, she continues to thrive thanks to the extraordinary care – and donor support – that made her treatment possible.
For Constable Vanessa Hallaway, one of the project leads and handler of Police Service Dog Ryker, this year’s calendar carried special meaning. After cancer touched her own family, supporting BC Cancer became deeply personal.

In Memory of Gregg
Since filming this story, Gregg has sadly passed away. 
We are honoured to share his voice and his story, and deeply grateful to him and his family for allowing us to be part of such a personal journey. His courage and love for his family are a meaningful reminder of why this work matters.
This story is shared in Gregg’s memory, with heartfelt condolences to Cst. Hallaway, her family, and everyone who knew and loved him.
