A Good Night Out For Everyone

Good Night Out was created to raise awareness of consent culture and the links between alcohol consumption and sexual aggression. The organization’s mission is to see a cultural shift in Vancouver’s arts, culture and nightlife and to provide safer nights out for all. Based on a highly successful initiative from the United Kingdom, Vancouver is the first municipality in Canada to implement it.

Good Night Out consists of a team of dedicated volunteers that assist the most vulnerable patrons during peak nightlife hours in the Granville Entertainment District—women and LGBTQ2S+ individuals. Every weekend, the team hits the streets and is equipped with supplies such as juice, candy, Naloxone kits, phone chargers, and printed resources regarding consent, sexual harassment and assault.

This unique program is one of the 2018 Grants supported by the Vancouver Police Foundation. The grant  provided funding for equipment and resources for the team. Its success has led to ongoing financial support from the City of Vancouver, Business Improvement Associations and other funders.
